Wallace and Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful to Host Free Community Shred Day

ROCKFORD, Ill. – State Rep. Litesa Wallace, D-Rockford, and Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful are inviting residents to a free community shred day, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rockford Recycle Center, located at 4665 Hydraulic Rd. in Rockford.

“This is a good opportunity to protect your identity and responsibly dispose of unwanted documents,” Wallace said. “Whether it’s old bank statements, receipts or outdated medical records, you can safely remove some of the clutter from your home.”

The shredding service will only be available to residents, not commercial businesses. Residents are asked to please limit themselves to two boxes per car. Cardboard boxes cannot be left at the event, and documents will be accepted only until the shred truck reaches capacity. Residents should remove paper clips, staples and other bindings.

The shred truck will be provided courtesy of AT&T.

“Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful does a fantastic job of advocating recycling here in our region,” Wallace said. “For those who have not been to the Rockford Recycle Center, I hope they take this as an opportunity to learn about the services regularly offered there.”
